Gardenrose B&B, Maybole - About Us
A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at Gardenrose B&B,Maybole. Gardenrose B&B is a beautiful Arts & Crafts house in the small town of Maybole, South Ayrshire. We have lived here since 1999 and spent many hours restoring many of the original features and adding period accents. We have added luxury en-suites to the two bedrooms we use for the B&B.
We offer 2 luxury en-suite rooms with very different styles. The Glasgow Room still has many of the original features and is very reminiscent of the style attributed to Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow School style. The Oriental Room has Oriental accents such as Chinese art and furniture.
We are near to many local attractions and places to visit. A few examples of these are Culzean Castle, Dumfries House, Turnberry Golf Courses. Culzean Castle and Country Park is only a 10 minute drive away and Turnberry, with its world famous golf course and wonderful views, is only 15 minutes away. It is possible to take a trip to Ailsa Craig from Girvan and the ferry to Arran is a 40 minute drive away in Ardrossan. You can take the train from Maybole to Glasgow and enjoy a tour of the city, including the many sites related to Charles Rennie Mackintosh. A trip to the House for an Art Lover in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow is well worth a visit and is an excellent place for lunch.
There is a good train service with direct, or connecting, services to Stranraer, Girvan, Barrhill, Ayr, Glasgow. The Stranraer route is claimed to be one of the most beautiful train routes in Scotland. The train service also connects Maybole to Ayr and the stations. on the route to Glasgow Central Station. There. is also a good local bus service that connects Maybole to many local villages and towns. We are also fortunate to have several local taxi companies that can provide a service to the local wedding venues or even connection directly to the Scottish Lowland airports of Prestwick, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Gardenrose B&B is about 150 metres from the railway station and the local bus service passes Gardenrose with a bus stop just 10 metres from the front gate.
The house was built in 1911 with Arts & Crafts and Glasgow Style features and retains many of the original features. The Arts & Crafts style of the house is enhanced by items we have added, such as the lighting. There is a guest lounge with many original Arts & Crafts features as well as a good, and varied, selection of books about the subject.
The house has great views across the valley and, occasionally, has spectacular sunrises. There are some lovely, quiet drives that will take you into almost uninhabited areas of South Ayrshire with beautiful views. The Scottish Dark Skies Observatory, near Dalmellington, is about a 35 minute drive.
Our aim is to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.
There is now a selection of restaurants in the town. We are perfectly placed for exploring the county. Just a short drive and you can be in beautiful countryside with hardly a soul around.
